This policy explains what personal data Makaani collects when you use the dashboard at dashboard.makaani.world, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written to be plain and honest rather than exhaustive — if anything is unclear, email us at support@makaani.world.
What we collect
When you create an account and use Makaani, we collect:
- Account details — your name, email address, account type (member, business, or community), and, for business accounts, your company name.
- Password — stored only as a salted hash; we never see your actual password.
- Profile information — a profile photo and any bio or contact details you choose to add.
- Google sign-in data — if you use “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. We do not receive your Google password.
- Payment information — membership is paid by bank transfer. We store the proof of payment you send us and the date your membership runs until. We never ask for or hold card details.
- Activity — listings, requests, saved items, and notifications you create while using the service.
- Technical data — a sign-in session cookie to keep you logged in, and basic server logs.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To provide the service — areas, network, listings, and member features.
- To check your membership payment against our account and manage renewals.
- To send you transactional email (email verification, billing receipts) via Resend.
- To respond to your requests and to operate, secure, and improve Makaani.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that make Makaani work:
- Google — when you choose to sign in with Google.
- Resend — to deliver transactional email.
- Our hosting and database providers — to run the service.
We may also disclose data where required by law.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile at any time from your dashboard, and you can permanently delete your account from Profile → Delete account, which removes your personal data from our systems. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, export, or object to the processing of your data — email support@makaani.world and we’ll help.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data, except where we must retain limited records (for example, billing records) to meet legal obligations.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated to you.
